Auction
It’s the biggest party of the year! There are many ways to support the auction, most importantly by joining us for the event! This year's auction is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2011. There will be wonderful items to bid on, delicious food, and a whole lot of fun.
The auction is also a great opportunity to volunteer. We always need lots of help, both planning the event and working the night it takes place. Working on the auction is fun and an excellent way to meet other LCS parents. To volunteer to help, please email our Development Department at mvrabel@lakecountryschool.org.
Here are some ways you can get involved in the auction:
Solicit Donations

We need every family to help round up irresistible offerings for the auction. You could solicit a gift certificate from your favorite restaurant, massage therapist, gift store, or bed and breakfast. Most businesses are happy to oblige, knowing that gift certificates bring in new customers, and the donation write-up in our catalog and auction website is free advertising. Or perhaps you have a lake cabin or a vacation home that you could donate for a week or a weekend. Consider giving a frequent-flyer coupon, or tickets to a local theater or orchestra. Use your imagination!

Host a Great Gathering
Among the auction favorites are events called Great Gatherings. Hosted by Lake Country families for adults, children, or families, Great Gatherings are offered at a fixed price, with all proceeds benefiting LCS. Past Great Gatherings include house concerts, valentine-making parties, museum tours, bird watching outings, camp-outs, song circles, wine tastings, candle making lessons, picnics, ethnic dinners, nature walks, bike rides and more. They are great fun and great community builders.
Sign Up for a Committee
Working on the auction is a wonderful way to meet lots of other Lake Country parents. We need help with set-up, clean-up, decorations, catalog production, sponsorships, check-out, Marketplace – you name it. Whatever your talents, there is a place for you! Contact the Development office to volunteer.
Make Something for Marketplace
Marketplace is where we sell handmade and homemade items created by the Lake Country community. Examples include placemats, earrings, scarves, soaps, canned goods, and other items made in multiples. If you’re artsy, crafty, or a canner, please donate some of your creations to Marketplace!
Place an Ad on the Auction Website and in the Catalog
This is a great way to advertise your business or service to hundreds of the best people in town while supporting the school. And, our rates are great!
Write a Check
If your time is tight but you want to help, gifts of cash to underwrite the event are greatly appreciated.
Plan to Attend!
It really is the best party in town and a great way to meet other LCS families. Invite your adult friends and extended family, too.
